A year has not passed that we haven’t sort out this Kenyan coffee, and it returns again this year with vibrant watermelon candy and dark chocolate notes. It’s bloody good and a remarkable reminder of how exquisite Kenyan coffee is.
This naturally processed, single varietal SL28 lot is from from Gulmarg Estate in Kiambu County in south-west Kenya. The region has all the ingredients needed for coffee to flourish: close proximity to the equator; iron rich, semi-volcanic soils, abundant sunshine and consistently high altitudes up to 2,000masl. The cool night time temperatures in these fertile highlands allows cherries to mature slowly, developing the acidity and complexity in the final cup.
